Title:	Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Description:	This position is full-time – 40 hours/week. Nurse Practitioner (NP) will provide general psychiatric care and treatment to clients in an outpatient clinic environment in collaboration/consultation with psychiatrist. NP will assess, diagnose, and treat a variety of mental illnesses. NP will conduct complete psychiatric evaluations and provide treatment including prescribing psychotropic medication and providing counseling and education. Related experience should include work with adult, child, and family service/behavioral health, a demonstrated flexibility in the use of treatment modalities including individual, family, and group treatment for short and long term lengths of stay. Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate with consumers, referral sources, and other community providers is essential. Bilingual Spanish preferred. No Weekends or Holidays but 1 or 2 evening per week.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Master's Degree in Advanced Practice Nursing, current Illinois license as an RN and Advanced Practice Nurse; current DEA license; 5+ years mental health experience; evidence of well-developed critical decision making skills; evidence of excellent communication and interpersonal skills; must have reliable transportation for availability at any of our various sites.
Comments:	ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Conduct psychiatric evaluations and medication management follow-up sessions. Order and interpret lab tests/results and recommend and prescribe treatment for clients. Prescribe psychotropic medication under the supervision of psychiatrist. Administer injections. Provide psycho-education and medication training to client and/or family. Provide individual, family, or group therapy to a caseload of clients as determined by program needs. Complete assessment in order to formulate an accurate diagnosis and comprehensive treatment interventions to serve the identified client and family. Monitor and support services provided by psychiatrist. Assess and stabilize high risk individuals and/or families. Maintain records in accordance with agency policies and complete required outcomes protocols. Participate in agency meetings and in-services. Work in collaboration with other agency programs and staff. Coordinate with other community agencies and organizations such as DCFS, schools, hospitals, other providers in the community. Respond to clients and/or family needs outside of regularly scheduled session times. Share specialized clinical knowledge with colleagues and be involved in the delivery of ongoing training, education, and support of colleagues. Acquire and/or maintain state licensure/DEA. Other duties as assigned.
