Buddy's Place


Buddy's Place, a program of Pillars, is a family based bereavement support program for children ages 4-18 and their families who have experienced the death of a parent, guardian or significant caregiver. Founded and Co-Directed by Linda Moran, MS, LCPC, CT and Co-Directed by Cindy Thelen, MA, LCPC, Buddy's Place offers a number of support services such as:

  • Time-limited and ongoing support groups year round
  • Services at no cost
  • Monthly gatherings where families work on a creative grief-related projects together and connect with other families who have had a similar experience
  • 8-week sessions which are offered 3 times a year where children and their family members gain insight into the grieving process, learn new coping skills, feel supported and have the opportunity to connect with other grieving families
  • Children and adults connect and support each other in their grief
  • Additional services such as a group for bereaved spouses which provides education, support, and connection with people in similar circumstances
